Hi, I'm Mikki — a security operations engineer who automates everything she can and builds a little too much homelab infrastructure for fun.
How did I get to where I am today? Not the way you'd expect — my career actually started in IT support, working help desks and onsite engineering roles for small businesses long before 'security' was in my title. Somewhere between troubleshooting locked accounts and coordinating server migrations, I kept gravitating toward the same question: how do we stop this from happening again? Eventually that question became the job.
These days that means monitoring SIEM and EDR telemetry, triaging incidents, and helping rebuild incident response programs when things go wrong — including a ransomware event I helped a previous employer recover from and harden against afterward. I love the challenge of finding the gap before someone else does, and I'm just as happy automating away the tedious parts of the job as I am chasing down an alert.
Outside of the day job, I'm still tinkering — running a self-hosted homelab as my own personal test range, designing network infrastructure for small-business clients, and working toward CySA+ and CISSP. If there's a theme to any of it, it's that I'd rather build the tool than wait around for someone else to.

Why 'CthulhuCreep'? It's a playful nod to my former dog, Cthulhu. She was my rock, my why, and the reason I am where I am today. The 'Creep' part of the name is a tongue-in-cheek reference to my love for all things spooky, mysterious, and a little bit creepy. It's a reminder to embrace the unknown and find beauty in the unconventional.
